Meet Afton

Every now and then someone comes along that you know from the jump they are a genuine and independent person. We are so lucky that Afton chose us to lead her farther in her fitness journey. Here are a few fun facts about her and what brought her to CFRR. We can’t wait to see what all you accomplish in 2017!

  1. Where are you originally from?

Round Rock, TX

 

  1. Brief fitness journey history?

I’ve never sportsed.  Have had a pretty sedentary lifestyle and diet of trash.  Had a really rough time with life in 2015 that was the catalyst to change. I started dieting to lose weight.  Bought a bicycle, googled “how to ride a bike”, and rode it every day, gradually increasing length of ride until I could ride to/from work, 10 miles a day.  Did that for 2 months. Quit because I had a couple close calls and decided it wasn’t worth the risk. Started crossfit a week later.

 

  1. Why CrossFit Round Rock?

I watched the fittest on earth documentary on Netflix and was inspired by the strength of the women. I didn’t think I could do it at the time, but I wanted to learn more about it and try it after I had lost more weight. I googled crossfit, and found CrossFit Round Rock’s website. Everything I read really appealed to me, particularly the trainer for life 1:1 experience, because I had no fitness background and I was extremely intimidated by classes. When I met Melissa, I was sold. She made me feel really comfortable. And when I learned that everything was scalable, it was exciting to learn I could do it.

  1. What’s one of your 2017 fitness goals?

Reduce % body fat

 

  1. One random fact about yourself.

I placed 2nd at the Pandemic survival national championship in 2015. It’s a board game.
